Straining coffee and jalapeño bits out of oil…

Okay, these totally are some of the most amusing brownies I ever made.

I started with this recipe, and given my usual ability to follow recipes, quickly deviated from it.

First things: Substituted jalapeños for the cayenne pepper; added in coffee grounds as well, decided I didn’t want lumpy brownies with bits of jalapeño in it, so strained them out.

Secondly: I didn’t have chocolate chips, so a fair bit of  a chocolate bar and some cocoa powder went in instead.

Thirdly: I dropped the vanilla in favor of hazelnuts, left out the ginger because I had none, added paprika, and, well, see what I mean by I don’t follow recipes?

They’re still tasty, though.
